How Al-Anon Helps in the Holiday Season

Al-Anon in the Holiday Season

Well, here we are — in the middle of the holiday season in Israel. Schedules are disrupted; we may be spending more time with our qualifiers* … or alone; meetings are often not as available as usual. Even the clocks just changed last night!

How to cope???

Al-Anon members use a variety of tools during the holidays. We may not be able to attend our regular meetings, but phone calls to sponsors or other Al-Anon members, Al-Anon literature, writing, online meetings, and prayer and meditation can help us deal with the holiday season’s highs, lows and in-betweens.

To share your most difficult holiday challenges and how Al-Anon helps, Contact Us. With your permission, we will publish your submission on this blog, anonymously, of course.

REMINDER: Al-Anon meetings in Jerusalem and the rest of Israel may be disrupted around the time of Succot. Please check with the contact person for your meeting. We will also try to post changes on the Announcements page here.

*”Qualifier(s)”: the person(s) whose drinking problem may have brought us to Al-Anon.

About Al-Anon Jerusalem

The Al-Anon Family Groups are a fellowship of relatives and friends of alcoholics who share their experience, strength, and hope in order to solve their common problems. We believe alcoholism is a family illness and that changed attitudes can aid recovery. Al-Anon is not allied with any sect, denomination, political entity, organization, or institution; does not engage in any controversy; neither endorses nor opposes any cause. There are no dues for membership. Al-Anon is self-supporting through its own voluntary contributions. Al-Anon has but one purpose: to help families of alcoholics. We do this by practicing the Twelve Steps, by welcoming and giving comfort to families of alcoholics, and by giving understanding and encouragement to the alcoholic.
